The Mountain Education Center (MEC) is a regional state accredited high school, which offers a high school diploma in an individualized, self-paced program of instruction. M.E.C. is open year round, Monday- Thursday 3:30 – 9:30 PM.
Fees:
There are no fees for students who are not enrolled in another high school and are in attendance at M.E.C. for at least a semester.
M.E.C. serves students in the surrounding Northeast Georgia area that have failed classes in their day school. The cost is $250.00 per unit of credit.

The Learning Center offers FREE instruction in GED preparation, reading, writing, math, and English as a second language.
GED testing is done at the center. Candidates should register 1-2 weeks prior to test date and should bring photo ID and a $55.00 money order (only).

North Georgia College and State University is a comprehensive university offering Associates Degree (Nursing), Bachelors and Masters Degrees. Adults who have been out of high school more than five years can attend North Georgia as a non-traditional student without having to take SAT/ACT. All non-traditional students need to show proof of high school graduation or completion of a GED.
Registration Process and Fees:
To apply to NGCSU as a non-traditional student, you must complete an application for admission and return it with $25.00 non-refundable application fee. For more information applying as a non-traditional student, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 706-864-1800 and speak with an Admissions Officer or look at our website at www.ngcsu.edu . The University conducts tours each weekday at 2:00 PM and on Saturdays at 10:00 AM. Please call to schedule a time and date.
